confessions in the wonder circle

wind blows cold on my virgin wrist
as i suffer through the prejudice
i never claimed anything but self interest
and today its okay, we’re all doing it

on my iPhone i heard my cousin say
his starving child was dying of AIDS
i told him, “don’t you worry, Zimbabwe.
we only buy product RED these days”

i think i drove home drunk in my car last night
totalled my Land Rover on the traffic light
when i saw my face intact it gave me peace
ain’t no game over till you run out of me’s

sometimes wonder why i got so much to bear
why nobody else has to straighten their hair
can’t figure out why i’m lonely and scared
since i’ll never really have to survive out there
